Gone Viral

Have you been Elfed or Scrooged yet? Last year during the Christmas season, Office Max released the Elf Yourself website that allows you to upload your photo and turn yourself into a digital, dancing elf. It went viral and paid off in 40 million hits to the site. This year they’ve added Scrooge Yourself. Same theory, only this time you get to be a dancing Scrooge. Bah, humbug.

What elves have to do with office supplies is not clear to me. Scrooge, known for being especially cheap when it came to supplying employees, is a little clearer when it comes to Office Max. Although the company does not really attempt to tie either one to their brand. They are missing an opportunity.
