Journalists often play it close to the vest when it comes to their relationships – and the foibles of – PR people. And there are many foibles, primarily because today’s PR people have never worked inside a newsroom. But that is another topic.

Brian Morrissey of Adweek doesn’t hold back his priceless advice. In a recent Online Spin article, Max Kalehoff unveiled some uncut Morrissey gems, like these:

Don’t Be Persistently Annoying: “How can I not be rude to the following-up-on-an-email-I-just-sent calls from PRbots? I get >12 a day. Frustrating. Which then leads to a following-up-on-our-conversation email. It’s vicious cycle.”

Acquire News Judgment: “still amazes me that when I ask flacks, what’s noteworthy about this, they often don’t have an answer.”

Be Sensitive To Jargon And Context: “PR Pitch Subject Line of Day: ‘Leveraging the Holiday Season to Maximize SEM Spend and Increase Conversion.” Gets you in xmas spirit.’”

It’s worth a read Jr. PR people.
