Hey there... this is somehow what my boss and I always argue after office hours. thoughts like im not that talented/ genius or creative puts my head on the line. my boss kept telling me that im not stupid but i just preferred to be one... i guess its my mind set, as you mentioned, its the way i believe... the way i look down on myself and compared my works to others, im belittling myself... I want to change my mindset route, im good, im creative and im not stupid. Thanks for this post.

Now, Jim, by your definition of "true creativity" I can see where you would believe that. I, however, still believe we all contain the ability to be creative in some endeavor.

This is, indeed, a fascinating post. While I believe what you say (having seen some of that research too) I might add that a curious mind is also more prone to creativity. What I mean is that the more someone is exposed to photography, literature, philosophy -- even the back of a Cheereo's box -- the more creative they tend to be.

And I wholeheartedly agree that practice is what separates the novice creative from the professional. But some go into practice scared of making mistakes, which I think retards their creative ability too. I'm guilty of this and still have to fight my perfectionist urges.
