CBS Ratings Stunt Stunts Ratings

Katie Couric and CBS, trying to gain some traction in the ratings, pulled a ratings stunt that succeeded only in stunting Katie’s ratings further. The perky anchor headed off to the war zone hoping to boost her flagging popularity and her Evening News ratings.

“We never expected it to do well in the ratings and it didn’t,” CBS News President Sean McManus said. “We knew that this was a long-term commitment to Katie and the show and we really felt it was important to establish our reporting there.”
