He has proposed that we 32 bloggers unite on topics of concern to PR practitioners. Today’s topic: China’s Failed Olympics Strategy.

Thanks to the Olympics, we are getting a peek behind the Chinese Bamboo Curtain. Typical of totalitarian governments everywhere, the Chinese want to control all information in order to create a positive worldview of the awakening giant. Oops, I guess they forgot about the Internet.

In this digital age – like Dorothy in Oz – we can see right through the (bamboo) curtain. Try as you might, China, we’ll find out what is happening: good and bad. As Ed Moed points out,

Yet, it (China) continues to make superficial attempts (even today) to communicate that it will tell state police to stop interfering with reporters and allow for formerly restricted Internet sites to be opened. The bitter irony is that, just a few hours after that news broke, we’ve learned that Chinese paramilitary police beat two Japanese journalists Tuesday night for absolutely no justified reason.

Information – like humans – wants to be free and our new digital environment will make it so for both. No totalitarian government has the wherewithal to stop it.

I like Rohit’s blog and I’m certain he is a perfectly nice man, but that doesn’t matter right now. What matters is that you – like a Chicago Democrat – should vote for me early and often even if you are dead.

So, vote for THINKing and help us move to the next round of the PRWeek PR Blog Competition. When you get to the voting page, scroll down.

I don’t want to get ahead of myself here, but if THINKing beats Rohit, we’ll be taking on the Phil Gomes vs. Katie Paine smackdown victor.

It’s a PR blog smackdown and THINKing is right in the middle of it. Here’s what PRWeek says about it,

As part of its 10th anniversary celebration, PRWeek is honoring one of the most important technological advancements in content distribution of the past 10 years: the blog. The celebration comes by way of a competition. PRWeek personnel selected 16 of their favorite blogs, and ask each of those bloggers to select another blog to nominate for this competition. You will find the logos of all 32 blogs here and a bracket of the competition here. The competition will be a single elimination tournament, voted on by you, the reader. The tournament will take place over five weeks. For the first round, we will introduce eight new blogs every Monday and Thursday. Bloggers have agreed to participate in the tournament, and were allowed to promote their participation on their blogs and elsewhere.

Our bracket is up this Wednesday, so we’ll be asking you to vote for us. We’re ready for a PR rumble. Are you?
